Exhibition of Student Paintings

June 1-30    2013

Ashfield Watercolor and Drawing Classes

Monthly, pencil painting and drawing classes are offered in the meeting room at the Belding Library.  Beginners and advanced students are welcome and attend each day long class.  (Kim Sebrey Ashfield,Massachusetts) and (Ronald Wood Watertown, Massachusetts) regularly assist with the increasingly popular classes.

The exemplary and inspiring student work results from four prime teaching intentions:

1) Focused/persistent attention on composition – developing a “painting plan”

2) Clear explanation, demonstration and practice of essential techniques

3) Focus on developing artistic observation necessary for skill advancement

4  Working in a step by step manner to complete a painting in a single day session

The subjects and emphasis, as the exhibition attests, change for each painting session and also annually.  Summer “Plein Air” (outdoor) classes are also held. The uncommon painting success for even novice painters is achieved by careful session planning, timely intervention and a clear set of goals and intention. We work at getting past the common disappointment point pat way through the painting when the impulse to stop arises. Ways to remedy paintings demonstrated and taught.

“Sharp edged” representational work as well a casual “wet in wet” techniques are taught. We have good fun doing skill and confidence building warm up exercises! Paintings increase in size as skills allow. Walt not only believes, but knows, that given a willingness to try, “everyone can paint and draw! Even the occasional children’s classes taught with Polly Anderson lead to eye opening success for student and parents.

Walt travels for other workshops including small group sessions, conducts private lessons, and does on line art critique work.   walt@wcala.comwww.cudnohufsky.com     413 628 4600
